John Flanagan, Founder & Chief Executive Officer
New York native John Flanagan has been involved in internet related technologies for over 15 years. John worked with M-Pen in New York (developing CD and web based multimedia applications for major content providers such as Microsoft, Paramount Interactive, Viacom and Scholastic) and for Baydon Solutions in Dublin, Ireland (creating a web based version of their AssistwareŽ information delivery system, used by firms that include Chase, GE and Sprint). John also worked with LogicaCMG, Ireland, developing a web based user interface for their SMS text messaging console.
In 1999, John founded Green Island Interactive to help the business community in Ireland better harness the growing power of the internet and was the initial creator of Site Caddy, a web-based tool that allows non-technical users 'take control of their online business'. John has taken the business from a one man operation to a full service internet solutions and online marketing agency with locations in Ireland and New York. John also consults on client internet solutions projects for both European and American clients across a variety of sectors, giving him a unique understanding of doing business on both sides of the Atlantic.
John has established a reputation as an expert in his field and continues to drive the business forward and advise clients on the best course of action. Born and raised in New York, John earned both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Computer Science from Boston College.
Margaret Blake, Director of Business Development
Margaret has held senior marketing positions in a number of service and software enterprises, including Edelman PR, Enterprise Ireland, Baydon Solutions and PolarLake. She has successfully coordinated online and offline marketing campaigns targeting markets that include the US, the UK, and Ireland. She has implemented website and online marketing initiatives and has gained an in-depth knowledge of what the client needs from its internet solutions partner.
As Director of Business Development and Marketing for Green Island Interactive, Margaret is responsible for the promotion and advancement of Green Island and its clients. Margaret consults with clients, and develops and executes online marketing initiatives on their behalf resulting in increased revenue and cost savings. A firm believer in the power of networking and making connections, Margaret maintains memberships with business organizations in Ireland and the US which has proved valuable both for clients and for Green Island.
Margaret has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing & Business from the University of Glamorgan, Wales and has 20 years experience in marketing, public relations, project and event management and promotion.
Nick Straguzzi, Chief Technology Architect
Nick Straguzzi has over 20 years of experience as a web applications architect and developer, specialzing in the areas of content management and search, enterprise J2EE applications, and e-commerce systems. As the Chief Information Architect for Credo Systems, and prior to that the Senior Knowledge Architect for Knova Software, Nick was responsible for building broad-scale enterprise knowledge management solutions for some of the world's largest companies including Cingular Wireless, Microsoft, Reuters and Prudential Financial. As a Senior Architect for u1.net, he built many popular e-commerce and online publication web sites built upon distributed content authoring and delivery. Previously, he served as R&D Manager/Chief Product Architect for AdvantageKBS, Inc., leading the team that developed the award-winning IQSupport suite of KM software for call centers and web self-service. He began his career as an engineer and researcher in the artificial intelligence laboratory of GE's Advanced Technology Labs.
Nick is an expert in a variety of frameworks and core XML technologies, and is an authority on search engines and content management systems. He has consulted for clients in the financial, pharmaceutical, and IT sectors, has served on several standards and advisory committees, and has published numerous technical papers on various computer science topics as well as co-authoring two books on contact bridge.
Nick received his B.S.E. in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. in Computer Science from Drexel University.
