Green Island Selected as Technology Partner for New York Metro Pro Golf Tour, the Freedom Tour
New web site key to tour promotion and member service

(January 4, 2006) The Freedom Tour, the first golf tour for professionals in the New York metropolitan area, has selected Green Island to oversee all technological aspects of the tour, including development of a highly interactive web site.

The Freedom Tour is a developmental tour for both professional golfers and low-handicap amateurs, filling a gap for competitive play previously not available in the area. The New York City Metropolitan area is a hotbed for golf talent, both homegrown and imported, and regularly sends successful golfers on to professional tours worldwide. The region also boasts many of the best golf courses in the world, with major professional tournaments hosted locally every year- regularly including PGA Tour majors.

Tour Founder and Golf Director Brian Flanagan envisages the web playing a significant role in marketing the tour, as well as day-to-day operations:

"Although golf is in many ways a very traditional sport, it has been an early adopter of internet technology in terms of marketing and member services. I'm convinced that the web is the most cost-effective and efficient way for us to promote our new tour. And once the season starts, the web site planned for us by Green Island should make many aspects of the tour much simpler, including online registration & bookings and nearly real-time score reporting. We plan on using our website as the primary method of communicating with our members, audience and press, and intend to have a site comparable to those offered by the world's major tours."

Green Island is excited about the opportunity to work with the fledgling tour, and to strengthen its ties to the golf industry.

The Freedom Tour already has some major golf industry sponsors on board, such as Cleveland Golf, Zero Restriction Outerwear, and Bobby Chan Golfwear, and a number of firms are interested in title sponsorship.
